February Tournament Chairman's Report

 

With rain a factor for much of the play in January, the Men's Club was still able to compete in three of the first four weeks of the New Year.
We averaged 60 players per week and the count was no different for our first monthly tournament, 4 Man - 2 Best Ball.
Congratulations to our first tournament winners, the team of Frederick, Kitchel, Fowler, and Vaught with a net score of 116.
 
It looks like rain is in the forecast again for February, but with a little luck, we will be able to play weekly to prepare for our next monthly tournament scheduled for February 17th. The 1-2-3 Net Score or better known as the  "Waltz", will combine players from A, B, C, and D flights using the new GHIN index to create the most competitive of teams.
 
To round out our first quarter of play for 2010, the first of our Four Majors will be held on March 17th. I am sure that St. Patrick's Green will be in full bloom during this "President Cup", a Two Man Net Best Ball - Pick Your Partner Tournament. To qualify for this major, you must have an established handicap and have played in at least four THMGC weekly events during the prior 90 days.
 
In closing, I would like to thank you all for your support of our Men's Club. Please talk to any golfers who are still members and not playing weekly or have not renewed their membership. I am sure you will agree that positive changes are noticeable daily and with continued increases in player head count weekly, our position to effect positive change can only increase.
